It has been an action-packed year! I saw many friends and cousins get married. My twin brother got engaged, and too got married within the year in the Dominican Republic. And lastly, I married the love of my life, Bethany, and had a wonderful honeymoon in the Caribbean country of Grenada (RE/MAX is here too!).
While it has been an excellent time to buy a house for the past two years, buyers have caught on in the past couple months of this year. September and November showed an INCREASE in the number of sold properties in York County when compared to the previous year (In October we sold 1 less house than the year before). While the complete December stats aren’t out and we are just starting to see activity from buyers who are closing houses in January and February, I am optimistic as I have witnessed much buyer activity in my business.
As I type this letter, there 569 properties reported to be under agreement to sell in York County. These may sell at any time, but most likely before the New Year or in January or early February. As of December 24th, 176 homes have sold in the month of December with a full week to go. We are a little behind compared to last year at this time when 228 had sold by the 24th of December.
Prices are still slightly dropping, and interest rates have hit historic lows. Many buyers have recently locked in rates below 4% on a 30-year fixed mortgage! Let me know if you know of anyone who should be buying.
